What is holistic content?

Holistic content refers to the grouping of several keywords on one topic and the resulting landing page or text. This means that similar topics are grouped together and dealt with extensively and in detail on one page. Instead of creating a separate page for each individual keyword, one page is created for one topic area.

Don’t forget the user experience!

Keyword SXO – Search Experience Optimisation. When it comes to search engine optimisation, it is not possible to generalise that a long text is always better. However, if you decide in favour of a long text for the holistic content paragraph, it is particularly important not to forget the user. Long texts in particular should be very well structured so that the individual pieces of information and sub-items can always be found quickly. At this point, the use of tables of contents, anchor links, subheadings, etc. is ideal.

Mobile First: It is important that texts are also easy to read on smartphones. Here you can find information on the Mobile First Index! In the best case, holistic content is a combination of good information content, visual presentation and good user guidance. A good web text conveys all relevant information and guides the visitor.

4 tips for creating good holistic content

  • SEO content audit: Firstly, you should get an overview of the current content situation on your own website. What content has already been written? Which keywords have been defined as the basis for these texts? How many URLs are there and which are ranking-relevant? A good content strategy can be developed on the basis of an SEO content audit.
  • Define keywords: Which keywords are relevant for the website? Which keywords match the user’s search intention? And which keywords can be summarised so that a page with holistic content can be created?
  • Create & structure text: Once the topics have been defined, the text can be written. The text should already be well structured while it is being written. It makes sense to create a structure of subheadings at the beginning, to which the holistic content is adapted.
  • Time & relevance: These are both factors that have an impact on the success of a text and therefore a website. Especially if the holistic approach is pursued, it is important that sufficient time is invested in keyword and topic research as well as in text creation. The relevance of the content is also a factor that should not be ignored. If a text is not interesting and important, it will not be read – so it doesn’t help if you have written holistic content.

Many companies start their digital marketing with a single tool - be it a content management system for the website or a CRM for managing customer data. And that's perfectly fine.
