Was ist Voice Search?

Voice search is on the rise. It is used to easily query topics, questions and keywords and obtain corresponding search results. Voice search is not only possible via smartphone and tablet, but also via desktop PC. All you need is a Google Chrome extension and voice search can also be used via desktop.

Usability: More convenience thanks to Voice Search

Using voice search makes it easier for users to use the Google search engine – search terms no longer have to be entered using the keyboard. The search process is speeded up by speaking the search terms quickly and easily. Voice Search not only makes searching in search engines more convenient, but also barrier-free. Voice search is an ideal solution for people who have problems with conventional keyboard searches. Voice search is particularly popular with young people, who integrate this type of search into their everyday lives and use it intuitively.

Voice Search und SEO

We speak differently than we write and this also changes things for search engine optimisation. An example: If someone wants to find out about setting up their own business, they will search for the keyword “setting up a business” via a conventional text search, but using voice search they are more likely to search for the question “How do I set up a business?”.

For many websites and online shops, special optimisation of their page content for voice search makes a lot of sense. If pages and content are to be optimised for voice search users, this is a different approach to conventional SEO, as users operate voice search differently to Google search via the keyboard. Instead of individual keywords, the search targets entire questions. This requires optimisation for whole sentences, W-questions (Where can I find the best Italian restaurant?; What will the weather be like tomorrow in Munich?) and long-tail keywords. Creating content that answers these questions and long-tail keywords is the right way to go. Overly generic shorthead keywords take a back seat.

To exploit the full potential of the language search, we recommend optimising H headings, URL, meta title and meta description.

Voice analysis via Voice Search

Google’s voice search uses voice analysis to determine whether the searcher is male or female. In this way, the user is shown search results that match generic queries. If a male user searches for the keyword sneakers via voice search, he will be shown men’s sneakers thanks to voice analysis. In this way, Google ensures suitable search results and a high level of user satisfaction.

Voice search in numbers

In 2016, 20% of all search queries came via voice search and the trend is rising. More and more users are searching using voice search. Based on the figures and the rising trend of voice search, we know that this type of search is not a passing trend, but a logical conclusion from the intensive and convenient use of tablets and smartphones.

With voice search, search engine optimisation is shifting a little further towards optimisation for humans and away from optimisation for machines.

Many companies start their digital marketing with a single tool - be it a content management system for the website or a CRM for managing customer data. And that's perfectly fine. But the more complex the requirements become, the clearer it becomes: A single system can never cover all tasks. Why? Because the requirements in modern marketing are diverse and highly complex.
